VIVIENNE WESTWOOD EXPOSE PUNK TSHIRT

VIVIENNE WESTWOOD EXPOSE PUNK TSHIRT

Vivienne Westwood began her journey by selling rock memorabilia in the 1950s, over time, Vivienne began customising and selling t-shirts with anti-capitalist and anti-establishment text and graphics. Her designs for The Sex Pistols and her alternative storefronts were some of her most widespread, influential looks. The fashion was aggressive and purposefully challenged the conservatism of the 1970s in Britain.

This T-shirt, part of the Anglomania range, pays homage to a design sold in 1978 in the ‘SEX’ store. It features a graphic image of King Kong holding a woman, with onlookers in the background who don’t seem phased, perhaps a commentary on the ‘Winter of Discontent’ in England in 1978 when the t-shirt was originally designed.
